The docking station receives power from your laptop's AC adapter and passes it on to any connected peripherals. It also contains controller chips that allow it to detect when a peripheral has been plugged in or disconnected from its ports.

Important Information. Dell Docking Station drivers (Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver and Realtek USB Audio Driver) are required to be installed before using the docking station for full functionality.

The LED on the power button flashes three times to indicate that the self-test passed. Turn on the docking station. The LED on the power button remains lit. If the docking station does not turn on, contact Dell Technical Support for further help.

To re-set to the default factory settings, first power off the docking station, press the re-set button for more than 2 seconds, and then power on the docking station. Restores all parameters to factory defaults. NOTE: The firmware version is not changed in this process.
